Never, ever getting this answer right? Maybe for Hugh Jackman!
During an interview for Variety, Deadpool & Wolverine co-stars Ryan Reynolds and Jackman and their director, Shawn Levy, were faced with various questions to test how well they know each other. Naturally, when it comes to Reynolds, the topic of Taylor Swift arose.
The trio was asked what is Reynolds’ favorite Taylor Swift song — and while his answer likely won’t surprise Swifties, it was not the one Jackman anticipated.
The X-Men alum was sure that Reynolds’ top pick was “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” since the actor apparently belted it out “word for word” in Jackman’s face on the last day of filming Deadpool & Wolverine, out July 26. While Levy guessed “Gorgeous,” neither men were correct.
Instead, the dad of four proclaimed his favorite to be “Betty” from Swift’s 2020 album, Folklore. It’s a fitting choice considering Swift used the names of his and wife Blake Lively‘s three children born at the time — James, Inez and Betty — in her lyrics. The couple reportedly welcomed their fourth child, whose name has not been disclosed, in 2023. As he joked in a May interview on Today with Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, “We always wait for Taylor to tell us what the child’s name will be… We’re still waiting, so, Taylor, let’s maybe start, you know.”
Added Reynolds, “She’s a prolific writer. I mean, what are we doing here? And lazy’s not a word I’d attach to Taylor.”
While the actor is a longtime friend of the world-famous singer, his famous wife considers herself Swift’s biggest fan.
“No, no, I really am,” the It Ends With Us actress told ET in June. Lively even helped secure Swift’s 2020 track, “My Tears Ricochet,” for the trailer promoting the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s hit romance novel, set to hit theaters on Aug. 9
“You could’ve put any song on, like, her music is just, like, unmatched,” Lively gushed of Swift’s discography. “Her writing is so beautiful and it’s so personal and you can feel that, you can feel that in the way that she sings. You can feel that in her lyrics.”
No need to hear the rumors from Inez — you have Lively and legions of Swifties to vouch for Swift’s musical prowess … and Reynolds to sing along.
