If I had kept my middle and high school wardrobe, I would be fully equipped for this summer’s hottest trends: Platform sandals, light wash jeans, and butterfly everything is back with a vengeance. But there’s one style I was surprised to see make its 2024 debut—the tube top. The silhouette has gotten a makeover, from solid color, stretchy bandeaus, to sweetheart necklines, knit or eyelet fabrics, and delicate details, like lace; making them a centerpiece of my current summer rotation.
With temperatures hitting the 90s in New York City by mid-June, I knew this summer would be another scorcher, and finding clothing that kept me comfortable doing more than just sitting quietly in front of the AC was priority number one. I stocked up on linen pants, breezy dresses, and this Anrabess Knit Tube Top from Amazon, which is now on permanent rotation in my closet.
Anrabess Knit Tube Top
Since the last time I wore a tube top I was an A-cup, I was hesitant with my current C-cup chest, but the top stays up impressively well. The lightweight sweater material hugs your curves without constant tugging, rolling, or adjustments required. The material is thick enough to go bra-free and I felt supported, however, those with heavier chests or anyone who likes a bit of lift may want to wear a strapless bra or boob tape.
Fair warning: The twist-front gives the top a sweetheart cut with ample cleavage. I liked that sexy detail as it gave more shape to my bust, but it’s worth considering. The versatility of this simple top is my favorite part—I paired it with a midi skirt for dinner, jean shorts for an outdoor concert, and even over a strapless bikini for the beach.
I bought my typical size and found the fit to be accurate. It is slightly cropped but does hit the top of mid-rise jeans and offers full coverage with high-rise bottoms. “When I first saw it out of the package, I immediately thought I would have to give it to my daughter,” one Amazon shopper said. “But it was just deceiving! *phew* It stretches out nicely and I don’t have to pull it up [because] it fits like a glove.”
While sweaters and summer seem to go together like peanut butter on a burger, it’s a combo that just works in this case (my favorite hometown meal agrees, too!). I never overheated and it looks cute under blazers for transitional weather. At $20, it’s a great price for the quality. With Amazon Prime Day around the corner, I have more colors in my cart to buy when I place my next order.
