Chappell Roan has always admired the way Hannah Montana had the best of both worlds!
On Monday, Aug. 12, Pop Crave shared the “Hot to Go!” singer’s full introduction for Miley Cyrus from her induction as a Disney Legend at D23 the day before. In her intro, Roan, 26, not only praised Cyrus, 31, she also expressed her love for the former child star’s iconic Disney Channel character, Hannah Montana.
Roan revealed that the first concert she ever attended was Cyrus’ Best of Both Worlds Tour, featuring the Jonas Brothers, and seeing Cyrus onstage as Hannah Montana made a lasting impression on her.
“She came down in a box from the ceiling. I was like, ‘How do I do that one day?’ I still think about it,” she said. “I still think about the show. I want to be like Hannah Montana.”
As much as Roan is a Hannah Montana fan, she’s first and foremost a Cyrus fan, which she made clear in her speech.

“The things that I admire about Miley Cyrus is that she constantly reinvents herself and it always works,” she said in her introduction. “For a lot of artists it can seem inauthentic or out of the blue, but she’s very open about her transformations artistically and personally. She puts out music that is so authentic.”
The “Pink Pony Club” singer went to describe herself as a “fan,” adding that there’s “a lot of crossover between Miley and my project.”
“I love her fanbase. She’s got the whole world that supports her. She could do whatever she wants, which is something I want to do,” Roan explained. “Miley does anything and it works. Miley feels like freedom to me.”

Cyrus became the youngest Disney Legend at D23 on Sunday, Aug. 11, and the honor was not lost on the star.
“A little bit of everything has changed, … but at the same time, nothing has changed at all,” a tearful Cyrus said in her acceptance speech. “I stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana.”

The “Flowers” singer added: “In so many ways, this award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing loyal fans, and to everyone who has made my dream a reality. To quote the legend herself, ‘This is the life.’ “
