The actress, 47, assured concerned fans that she is “alive and well” in an update post on Tuesday, Aug. 20, after she shared a TikTok video of herself eating what followers believed was a toxic fruit.
“Don’t worry … I didn’t swallow 😉😛,” Silverstone added in the caption while sharing a photo of herself posing while lying on her front.
The Clueless alum’s health status update comes after she shared a clip of herself eating an orange fruit she hadn’t seen before while out for a stroll in London, England.

“I’ve discovered something that I can’t figure out what it is and I need your help,” Silverstone explained in the video as she inspected the seeded fruit, which she plucked from someone’s garden.
“I just bit into it because it was on the street and we were discussing whether this was a tomato or not,” she continued as she accidentally dropped the fruit on the ground.
Silverstone then panned the camera to show shrubs growing the strange fruit behind a fence.
“It’s definitely not because look at these leaves,” she said. “Those are the leaves. So what the heck is this? Because when you open it up, it looks like that,” she explained, panning the camera back to the smashed fruit she’d dropped on the ground.
Silverstone whipped out another one of the fruits and took another bite of it. “And if I bite it — I don’t think you’re supposed to eat this,” she said. “But it’s almost like a pepper. Does anyone know what this is?”
Fans commented that the fruit is a Jerusalem cherry as they shared their concerns reactions to the video.
“Girl! berries are either great or freaking poisonous! Don’t eat rando bush-things😭😭,” one follower wrote.
“Is Alicia ok??? We need an update!” A second said. Another joked, “She’s clearly clueless… 😂,” referring to the actress’ ‘90s film of the same name.
According to the Northern New England Poison Center, the Jerusalem cherry is “harmful to eat” and consuming just a small amount of the fruit or leaves could cause you to “feel sick to your stomach, throw up or have diarrhea,” while a larger amount ingested could lead to “problems with your heart rate.”
The Jerusalem cherry is “toxic” as it contains a “poisonous alkaloid,” though the poison is “not life-threatening,” according to Plantura.
