Shania Twain Joins Joshua Jackson Series

It’s anything but smooth sailing for Joshua Jackson in Ryan Murphy‘s new series, Doctor Odyssey.

In the ABC medical drama, Joshua Jackson stars as Dr. Max Bankman, “the new on-board doctor for a luxury cruise ship where the staff works hard and plays harder,” according to an official synopsis.

“It’s all-hands-on-deck as Max and his small but mighty medical team navigate unique medical crises and each other, miles from shore,” the description continues.

In a new trailer for the upcoming series, Max is welcomed aboard by Captain Robert Massey (Don Johnson), who says, “This ship is heaven. Our mission is to preserve the dream. And that’s why you’re here: Keep these dreamers safe.”

Max doesn’t hesitate and replies, “I’m in.”

However, there are choppy waters ahead for the medical team as they are called to help when man collapses poolside, a patient convulses in a hospital bed and a man falls off of the cruiseliner.

“Keep breathing,” Max tells a man being rescued and put into a lifeboat.

Later in the trailer — which is set to the Beach Boys’ hit “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” — the crew braces for an even bigger storm. Captain Massey explains, “It’s not a question of when you encounter waves, but what you do when they come up.”

Guest star Shania Twain is also seen dancing with Captain Massey on board the ship.

“Brace for impact,” Captain Massey declares amid a moment of pure chaos as the ship hits rough waters in the final moments of the trailer.
