Ashley Blaine Featherson is a mom!
On Saturday, Aug. 31, the Dear White People actress, 36, shared that she has welcomed her first baby via IVF — a girl named Aspen Dior Jenkins — with her husband, Darroll Jenkins.
The couple, who got engaged in 2020 and married in 2021, announced the happy news in a joint Instagram post beginning with a photo of a nameplate that revealed their little girl was born at 8:33 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 23.
The picture also revealed that at birth, the newborn weighed 7 lbs. and 7 oz.
In addition to some photos of herself and Jenkins snapped shortly after welcoming Aspen, Featherson also penned a sweet message about her daughter.
“Aspen Dior Jenkins🩷 Life Has Never Been Sweeter. Love Has Never Been Deeper,” she wrote in the caption. “It’s Impossible To Deny That She Is Heaven Sent. These Are The BEST Days Of Our Lives✨.”
Plus, the actress added a “fun fact,” revealing that Aspen “Was Born To ‘Endless Love’ Followed By Beyoncé’s ‘Superpower’ Like A True Virgo ♍️.”
Featherson has been incredibly candid about her IVF experience, starting long before she was officially expecting. On April 15, Featherson shared a video chronicling her IVF journey alongside her husband on Instagram. In the background, Beyoncé’s “Protector” — a song written in honor of the music superstar’s children — played.
“Even though we know someday you’re gonna shine on your own, we’ll be your projectors. Born to be your protectors💕✨,” Featherson captioned the post.
The heartfelt video began with the actress saying “see you soon, we love you.” She then joked as she looked at her sports agent husband: “We hope you look like us, but you’re probably going to look like him.”
“But I really hope you look like me just a little bit. Just a little bit, that would be amazing,” she added.
The following clips showed the couple beginning acupuncture before moving on to Featherson’s PIO shots — which she revealed she did for 10 weeks — to facilitate the embryo transfer. The Netflix actress appeared emotional as Jenkins supported her through the process.

Later in the video, Featherson shared a photo of her embryo, revealing it to be a girl by writing, “She cute 💅,” across the screen.
The video also captured the transfer as it happened, where Featherson clapped as tears ran down her face when the process was over.
“There she is… so tiny!” she wrote alongside an ultrasound photo.

The couple could be seen answering a call from their doctor two weeks later, telling them they’re “officially pregnant! 🎉,” before Featherson took a pregnancy test to confirm the news.
The rest of the post featured sweet clips of the pair telling loved ones about their baby-on-the-way. “Lots of hugs,” Featherson captioned one moment.
It ended with a photo of herself and Jenkins together wearing “IVF mom” and “IVF dad” sweatshirts, and revealing she was due in August 2024.
