Cate Blanchett’s Barely-There Crop Top Was Made Out of Chains

Cate Blanchett is continuing her jewelry style streak at the 2024 Venice Film Festival. Over the past few days, she’s stepped out at the star-studded fest in a Y2K-inspired bandage dress with an off-the-shoulder necklace and a plunging backless black gown accentuated with strings of pearls. On Saturday, Blanchett wore her sultriest design yet as she made an appearance at the Armani Beauty Passione Party in a tiny top made out of rhinestone chains.

The actress, who’s been promoting her Apple TV+ series Disclaimer at the annual film festival, showed off her cleavage and midriff in the barely-there sparkly crop top, which featured a mock neck design and layers of delicate chains that were strategically placed over her chest and draped all the way down to her legs. Delicate silver and rhinestone strings were also artfully arranged over her elbows, giving the top an off-the-shoulder-inspired look. Two pieces of nude-colored satin on the bodice were the only things preventing a potential wardrobe malfunction.

Blanchett balanced out the proportions of the daring top with wide-legged black trousers and black pointy-toed high heels. Wearing her ice blonde hair in soft chin-length waves, the Carol actress added some extra sparkle with a pair of diamond earrings and subtly defined her features with pink blush and lipstick.

It’s not the first time the sartorially-savvy star has worn a top constructed out of something other than fabric. On August 6, the Australian actress redefined red carpet dressing by attending the premiere of her film Borderlands in a Hodakova top made out of 102 recycled vintage spoons. Similar to her Saturday Armani Beauty look at the Venice Film Festival, Blanchett also made sure the eye-catching piece was the main character of her outfit by pairing it with wide-legged black pants and black pointy-toed heels.
