‘Lost’ Alum Daniel Dae Kim Reveals What Memento He Took from Set

Daniel Dae Kim admits he wanted to have a memento from his years on the Lost set.

The Hawaii Five-O star, 56, “wanted something that I could keep with me and didn’t take up a lot of space,” he tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “A lot of people took things like life preservers, but I just thought that’s going to be bulky to carry around. So I took an ashtray from the crashed airplane. It’s one of those removable old school ones that used to be in the the arm rest.”

The Avatar: The Last Airbender star, who returns to Broadway in September with the play Yellow Face, chatted more with the magazine for One Last Thing:

Last time I sang out loud
I went to a karaoke room or, as Koreans call it, a noraebang, in Seoul. I love “Wanted Dead or Alive” by Bon Jovi. What I lack in ability, I make up for in spirit.

Last game I played
I play Wordle every day with four other actors, but I won’t name-drop. We see who can solve it the fastest. Bragging rights is a big thing with us.

Last thing I do before I go onstage
Sit by myself and clear my mind and try and forget everything that happened that day. I breathe and remind myself that I’ve done this before, and this moment is not too big.

Last time I was starstruck
I was eating lunch in a restaurant, and next to me was Julie Andrews. I grew up loving The Sound of Music. I couldn’t even introduce myself; I just sat there dumbstruck.

Yellow Face will begin previews Sept. 13, with opening night set for Oct. 1 at the Todd Haimes Theatre.
