Tube pusher found guilty of attempted murder

A homeless man who pushed a postman in front of an oncoming Tube train has been found guilty of attempted murder.

Brwa Shorsh, 24, shoved Tadeusz Potoczek, 61, off the southbound Victoria line platform at Oxford Circus station on 3 February.

Mr Potoczek, who was on his way home from work, narrowly missed touching the live rail, Inner London Crown Court heard.

Shorsh is due to be sentenced on 26 September.

The court previously heard that Mr Potoczek was helped back up to the platform by another passenger.

The driver of an oncoming train had said that “if he had been on the track a few seconds later, he would have been killed”.

Shorsh, who gave evidence through a Kurdish interpreter at his trial, had claimed he was “angry” at Mr Potoczek as he felt as though the postman had given him a dirty look, but he had not intended to try to kill him.
