Yvonne Strahovski and Scott Speedman face a mysterious threat in rural Georgia in the first teaser for James Wan’s horror series Teacup, which dropped on Wednesday.
Strahovski, who plays Maggie Chenoweth, and Speedman, in the role of James Chenoweth, along with co-star Chaske Spencer, become part of a disparate group of people who come together over a single day and must put their differences aside to save themselves from an enemy unseen and unexplained.
The Teacup teaser — with jarring sound effects and set around an apparently haunted house, and an invisible monster seemingly out there — is from James Wan’s Atomic Monster and showrunner Ian McCulloch (Yellowstone). The first two episodes will bow on Oct. 10, followed by two more episodes each week through Halloween.
The Peacock series is inspired by the novel Stinger from Robert McCammon. E.L. Katz is directing and executive producing along with Wan, McCammon, Michael Clear, Rob Hackett, Francisca X. Hu and Kevin Tancharoen.
The series producers continue to do their best to keep the storyline for Teacup under wraps to avoid spoilers. But producer Wan in a statement said of the Peacock series: “Teacup defies easy labels. It’s a genre-bending blend of horror, mystery and drama, with layers that unfold like a captivating puzzle. It goes beyond chills and thrills and holds up a mirror to humanity, exploring the darkness that resides within us all. We hope you enjoy this wild ride as much as we’ve loved creating it!”
The ensemble cast for Teacup includes Kathy Baker, Boris McGiver, Caleb Dolden, Emilie Bierre and Luciano Leroux.
