The cast of Stranger Things is back in action!
On Monday, July 15, Netflix released a first look at the highly-anticipated fifth and final season of the hit series, and revealed Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly and Alex Breaux will be joining the cast for the upcoming season.
The behind-the-scenes footage kicks off with series creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer explaining, “We’re about halfway through filming now and it’s exciting. There’s so much going on. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Stranger Things season 5.”
Maya Hawke and Joe Keery — who stars as Robin Buckley and Steve Harrington respectively — then give fans a glimpse at filming “day one” of the upcoming season.
Meanwhile, Millie Bobby Brown reflects on her journey playing Eleven, saying, “I started when I was 10, I’m now turning 20 years old. Feels very weird.”
“We’re just kind of savoring every single moment,” Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield) adds of it being the show’s final season.
Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson) says the show has become “home.” The actor, 21, adds, “You just remember why you’re doing it and how much fun you have.”
Noah Schnapp (Will Byers) teases what’s to come on the hit series, saying, “It’s just so exciting, I think this is going to be the best season yet.”
Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler) noted, “I’m excited to have scenes with the original four.”
The teaser also gives glimpses of new cast members Fisher, Connelly and Breaux. Linda Hamilton — who announced she was joining the cast at 2023’s Tudum: A Global Fan Event — also makes an appearance and shares, “I love this show so much — I really am a fan.”
The clip shows Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Will huddled by a radio. In another shot, they are joined by Joyce (Winona Ryder), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) and Steve.
As fans will recall, this marks a reunion for the characters, who separated for much of season 5.
Jamie Campbell Bower — who played villain Vecna — teased that “season 4 was big” but “season 5 definitely feels bigger.”
Hawke, 26, told PEOPLE in June 2024 that filming the final season has been “heartbreaking” for her, even though she was a relatively recent addition to the cast.
“I mean, it’s the end of a really long journey. Longer for some of my castmates, even, than me. It’s really sentimental,” she said, adding, “We shoot for a long time, so it’s reinvigorating [to bring] the joy and finding it everyday and making it new. It’s a really fun thing to do.”
